About Me

Hi, I’m Shamika. I am a graduate student at Northwestern University majoring in Computer Engineering, specializing in Artificial Intelligence.



Worked as a Software Development Intern at Ugam Solutions, A Merkle Company, during my undergraduate years at the National Institute of Technology (Nagpur). While working as an intern at Ugam, I gained invaluable insights into ‘behind-the-scenes’ of data analysts, software development and building an API for image enhancement. Academic and professional work experience projects in the areas of Machine Learning and Data Analysis models for use cases are helping me to augment exposures in the scale of Artificial Intelligence.





From writing my first program for image enhancement to training my first Generative Adversarial Network, my goal has always been to strengthen my skills and learnings into powerful algorithms that will help me to effectively pursue my career objectives.

I am currently working as a ‘Machine Learning Engineer’ at Speechace.

Apart from living in a world of 1s and 0s, I also play tennis and spend entire nights with jigsaw puzzles.

Data Analyst Intern

  • Programmed on Ugam’s Cognitive Computing platform to improve image classification, segmentation, annotation, and object detection by developing a pre-processing step to enhance image quality through image processing.
  • Formulated a data processing pipeline using unsupervised learning to improve the image quality and increase the accuracy of image models using deep learning and Computer Vision (OpenCV).
  • Built super-resolution models by training on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) using PyTorch to improve the quality of the processed images by 98%.
  • Developed a user interface for super-resolution using Software Engineering on Flask and Rest APIs on HTTPS protocol to save and display a high-resolution image and a low-quality image to differentiate the quality of images.

Artist Style Learning System - Style Transfer using GAN

  • Built a deep learning Generative AI model to generate images of paintings using DCGAN with PyTorch.
  • Enhanced the quality of generated images by devising a data-driven model using Cycle GAN and altering the style of images to that of Monet paintings, Van Gogh Paintings, and Abstract art.
  • Upgraded accuracy of the model to 98% and applied federated learning to the model to improve resolution.

  • Used Twitter development to implement data mining and web-scraping on tweets for business operations.
  • Ensured accurate mapping of messy data using analytics with NLTK, Beautiful Soup, and Spacy and developed techniques to analyze data of winners, nominees, presenters, and hosts for Golden Globe Awards.
  • Performed sentiment analysis from prescribed datasets with the help of tweets with a model accuracy of 95%.
